FOr Parents

The process

Parents are encouraged to be part of the process of their athlete's mental skills coaching sessions. Parents who understand the fundamentals of sport psychology and mental skills development scaffold and support their athlete's development effectively in a way that the athletes are receptive to. This includes active participation in sessions as well as parent-only sessions. Don't worry... athletes are also given their own time, parent-free.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

You will build an understanding of the art and science that sits underneath the mental part of high performance. This shared understanding and common language in the sporting environment minimizes resistance and maximizes communication in the family system. Conversations around the dinner table and on the car ride home become more productive and the quality of communication around sports improves.

Through your support, your athlete:

  • Develops autonomy, knowing they influence their future in sports and in life, with the choices they make and actions they take.
  • Becomes competent, confident, and motivated to gain mastery of their skill set and abilities.
  • Connects with and thrives in healthy systems in their lives (friends, family, sports teams, etc.). They will also learn to operate within difficult systems while maintaining their best performance.
