Sport Psychology: What We Do

SPort Psychology for athletes

We work with athletes of all ages and developmental levels. Sport psychology training for athletes ​builds the mental skills that give a performance edge and creates consistent, repeatable peak performance. Mental skills training benefits all athletes. It builds the "intangibles" that make an athlete stand out from their peers. The mental skills learned not only apply to sports, but also build a mental framework that benefit the athlete in all facets of their life.


The fundamentals of sport psychology include:

We provide an individualized approach to everyone we work with. We consider the needs, wants, and requirements of the athlete, their competitive level, and the requirements of their sport. We work individually with athletes, incorporating parents and coaches when appropriate, to create athletes who stand out. 


Beginners and youth athletes become competitive quickly and set a strong foundation for future performance in sports and life. 


Intermediate level athletes develop the skills to storm the starting lineup.


Good performers become elite.


For college athletes and pro athletes, sport psychology training scaffolds what has already worked to get you to the highest level. It fills in any gaps in intuitive mental skill development and creates an understanding of repeatable peak performance at the highest levels of your ability. 


At Mind Right Sport Psychology, we offer one-on-one private coaching, which takes a targeted approach to the individual needs of the athlete. This is the most effective and efficient way to strengthen your mental game. Training starts with a needs assessment, then we work collaboratively to craft a plan that will best improve your performance.


We provide sport psychology training in San Antonio, at our home office. We also offer sport psychology services online for easy access to mental skills training anywhere in the country. Additionally, we travel nationally, working in the field with athletes at all levels and in multiple sports.

Sport Psychology for Parents OF athletes

HOw you can help train mental skills

Parents want to help their athletes, but those attempts are often met with resistance. This is because "help" sounds like criticism, external control, or it's seen as an intrusion into the athlete's area of expertise. Parents are encouraged to be part of the process, sitting in on their athlete's training as well as parent only sessions. Don't worry... athletes are also given their own time, parent free. Parents who understand the fundamentals of sport psychology and mental skills development scaffold and support their athlete's development effectively, in a way that the athletes are open to.


Parents learn the art and science that sits underneath the mental part of high performance. This shared understanding and common language in the sporting environment minimizes resistance and maximizes communication in the family system. The increase in the quality and frequency of healthy communication with your athlete that pays off in day-to-day life, too. Conversations around the dinner table and on the car ride home become more supportive and the quality of communication around sports improves.


The understanding you gain of sport psychology infuses the science behind motivation, performance, and self-regulation into your parenting. You are better equipped to support athletic and personal development. By leaning into the art and science of sport psychology training, you will be well equipped to face the challenges of parenting an athlete!

Sport Psychology For Coaches, teams, & Organizations

Sport Psychology training in your system

Many clubs, teams, and colleges don't have access to a dedicated sport psychology professional or program. We bridge the gap, offering affordable services to address one of the most important aspects of performance: mental skill training. Using the fundamentals of sport psychology, peak performance, and positive psychology we work collaboratively with you to create a high performance infrastructure in your system. This includes crafting a long-term plan to build consistent and repeatable practices and/or incorporate a mental skills training program and mental performance coaching into your organization.


This process includes one-on-one instruction, presentations, and clinics. We work with the needs of the system. That includes at the organizational level, team level, and individual level. The processes learned are applied in your environment, so we come to you. We travel the US working with athletes, teams, and providing clinics. We also provide Zoom sport psychology training!


By infusing sport psychology practices into every level of your system, there are gains in mental toughness, consistency, and repeatable peak performance in your athletes, teams, and systems. 


There is more to building champions in sport and life than Xs and Os.
